Kelsey grew up in the tiny town of Kawhia on the West Coast of the North Island, riding her pony bareback on the beach most days! Kelsey went right through the Pony Club system, and started horse trialling in my early 20s.
Kelsey was lucky enough to have a really cool Thoroughbred, The Felon, that her sister found free to a good home in the Waikato Times, and ended going right through to 3* level, having achieved top 3 placings at Kihikihi, Puhinui and Taupo 3 day events, and was runner up in the Super League series to Clarke Johnstone and Balmoral Sensation-a dream result and made working 3 jobs to fund her riding all worth it!
These days, Kelsey's life is centered around her two young daughters and helping her husband Finbarr with his Thoroughbred training business, living right in the centre of horse country in Cambridge. Kelsey now have another off the track Thoroughbred, former NZ Champion Stayer, Showcause, that is currently competing at 1* level. They are aiming to compete in Amateur level showjumping this season and hopefully step up to 2* level Eventing at some stage. Kelsey is super excited to be picked as a Dublin Ambassador, as she says she applied on the vague hope she might perhaps get a look in and is over the moon to be picked!
