Kelsey Rothery- Update
March was a slightly quieter month for me on the competition side of things, we did get to compete at the inaugural Takapoto Estate Showjumping which was amazing. We are so lucky to have this beautiful new venue and even better it’s only half an hour away from my house! Looking forward to next year when it will take place over 2 weeks. Gaz stepped up again and won two gorgeous sashes (we got a 2nd and a 4th) in very competitive classes with large numbers and jumped our first 1.20m for a clear round so that was a great bonus.
The highlight of my month was leading out the field for the Auckland Cup (Gazza ran 2nd in this in his racing career, when it was worth a million dollars), we also did an exhibition gallop down the Ellerslie straight and a dressage demo earlier in the day, showcasing off the track TBs and promoting Beyond the Barriers, an organisation promoting TBs after racing.
We also competed at Matamata HT, where Gaz decided to throw a spanner in the works just incase he thought I was getting a big head with all his ribbons lately and stopped at the big scary Liverpool in the showjumping-wee ratbag he is sometimes! Finished the weekend with an awesome XC round however and even got to wear my Dublin Moonstone Top out of the new Autumn/Winter drop for the first time- loved it! It’s super comfy and I just love the breathable material under the arms. Unfortunately I left my Dublin helmet at my grazing so didn’t get a photo from the XC with it.
I was very excited to see the new winter drop, it was so hard to pick what I wanted as it all looked so lovely! Can’t wait for my new Dublin helmet to arrive. The new Black helmet range looks awesome and very up with the current style. I also got the Clyde boots which I love-the deep chestnut colour is gorgeous and matches my horse!
